Strandherd Armstrong Bridge project creates 552 jobs |

The $48 Million Strandherd-Armstrong Bridge project is estimated to create 552 jobs during its construction.
This photo shows work underway at the construction site on the Riverside South side of the bridge. You can see the future Strandherd Drive Extension in Barrhaven across the water and to the right is the Prince of Wales Manor. Barrhaven and Riverside South have never seemed so close!
Residents on both sides of the river have expressed their excitement in seeing this bridge coming to fruition.

EMC News - Ottawa Police Chief Vern White capped off a July 13 tour of the fast-growing Barrhaven-Riverside South area with a stop at the Barrhaven Legion on Fallowfield Rd.

Mr. White, joined by Gloucester-South Nepean Coun. Steve Desroches, chose that venue to discuss community concerns and mentioned that a site next to Carleton Lodge off of Prince of Wales Dr. could very well become home to planned patrol station.

It’s not often in Ottawa that bridge construction draws a crowd, but the city is already predicting a spectacle when a new overpass slides into place across the Rideau River.
The $50-million Strandherd-Armstrong bridge, which will span the river at Earl Armstrong Rd., has a completion date of early 2012 and work has already started. The city recently awarded the building contract to ConCreate USL, headquartered in Bolton, Ont.
It will be the first bridge built across the Rideau River in Ottawa since the Hunt Club Rd. bridge was constructed in 1986.
