A fundraising event for Breast Cancer Research in Ottawa is being held at the Greenfields Pub in Barrhaven on September 10th at 7pm. Organizers are working with area radio stations, media and local businesses to put together a great event with proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Run on October 3rd. There will be live entertainment, silent auction, games, raffles and so much more. They are looking for raffle donations, gift certificates, merchandise and donations to help make this event a true success.
If you are interested in helping out, or would like more information on the event, please Cindy Smith at 613-823-6736 or by email at

Barrhaven EMC EMC News - Long periods of hot, dry weather might not be the best conditions for your home's lawn, but it's ideal for road construction.
The favourable conditions have benefited the many road infrastructure projects underway in Barrhaven this year, as a result, the 4-lane Longfields Dr. extension from Marketplace Ave. to Jockvale Rd. is on course to be opened to motorists this month.

Transit Customer Appreciation Days |
|
Wednesday, 11 August 2010 |
|
Councillor Harder and I pose with OC Owl, OC Transpo's mascot, at the Fallowfield Station as commuters are greeted with refreshments by OC Transpo staff at the annual Transit Appreciation Day.
It was great to see the many transit riders out at OC Transpo’s Transit Customer Appreciation Days at Fallowfield station on Wednesday, August 11th. I understand how important it is to have reliable transit services in the City of Ottawa and am pleased to see the progress happening within our communities. There are new park and rides being built and transit lines being extended. Although there is still work to do, we are definitely taking steps in the right direction.
Upcoming Transit Customer Appreciation Dates and Locations:
Friday August 13, 6:30-9 a.m., South Keys Station
Tuesday August 17, 6:30-9 a.m., Hurdman Station
Thursday August 19. 6:30-9 a.m., Place d’Orléans Station
