Strandherd Armstrong Bridge Update - June 18, 2010
This past Monday, June 14th, I had the opportunity to speak with city officials and senior engineers at ConCreate USL, the contractor awarded the tender for the construction of the Strandherd-Armstrong Bridge, regarding the upcoming construction.
During our conversation with the contractor, I had the opportunity to underline the importance of the project and the need to deliver the project on time and on budget. I was also pleased to hear that Cherubini Group of Companies of Dartmouth, Halifax, is assembling the steel components of the bridge. It is good to know that the economic benefits of the bridge will remain on Canadian soil.
I have the utmost faith in these two companies to build us a beautiful, long-standing connection between Riverside South and Barrhaven. Both companies have impressive portfolios and will each bring their expertise to the construction of the bridge.
I look forward to seeing them get on their way with construction over the coming summer months. The bridge is anticipated to open in 2012.
