Strandherd Armstrong Bridge Update - September 2011
I wanted to provide you with an update on the Strandherd-Armstrong Bridge and the work of the City of Ottawa’s contractor.
Construction is progressing on the substructure, deck and arch fabrication, and temporary launch system (including pile-bents) with an expected date of project completion still being 2012.
Up and coming work will include: the fabrication of the falsework for the river pile-caps, the installation of the temporary rails, including welding and fastening to timber-ties – east side, the erection of the temporary arch support towers – east side, the construction of the concrete pads for the temporary launching truss – west side; and the continued fabrication and painting of the deck and arch steel.
