Chapman Mills Community Building included in 2012 Budget
Ottawa – November 30, 2011 – I am pleased to announce that the funding for the long-awaited and much needed community building for the Chapman Mills area is included in the 2012 City of Ottawa Budget which was approved today by City Council.
This is the first city owned community building in South Nepean (Ward 22) since amalgamation.
The community building will be built in the Chapman Mills Drive Park and will be approximately 3,000 square feet in size and will include a large multi-purpose room, kitchenette, washroom facilities, office, storage space, and a potential change room.
Park planners are working diligently on the designs for the new building and hope to have a community meeting to present the concept plan to the community in the near future.
In addition to the Chapman Mills Community Building, funding for the South Barrhaven Recreation Complex, to be built at Cambrian Road and Greenbank Road, is also included in the 2012 Budget. The Barrhaven South Complex is anticipated to open in the fall of 2014.
