In the New Year, Ottawa Public Health (OPH) will hold 28 H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccination clinics beginning on Wednesday, January 6. Both the H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccines will be available at all clinics.

The traditional flu season usually begins in February and this year both the seasonal and the H1N1 flu viruses are circulating. Getting both vaccines will provide you with the best protection for this flu season.

Both vaccines are also available at many local doctors’ offices, community health care centres, university campuses and some workplaces.

Saturday is the final day for Ottawa Public Health’s seven fixed mass H1N1 vaccination clinics. All flu-shot clinics will be closed on Sunday, Dec. 13, and a new schedule of one-day roving flu shot clinics starts on Monday, Dec. 14.

The newly announced roving clinics schedule will be in operation from Dec. 14 to Dec. 22, and will provide residents continued access to both the H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccines. Both vaccines are also available at many local doctors’ offices, community health care centres, university campuses and some workplaces.

Vaccine will still be available to residents

Ottawa – All Ottawa Public Health (OPH) fixed mass vaccination clinic sites will close at the end of day Saturday, December 12.

"The mass vaccination clinics have been successful in their intended purpose of quickly vaccinating as many residents as possible but demand has been decreasing," said Dr. Isra Levy, Ottawa’s Medical Officer of Health. "These clinics are an efficient and convenient way to get vaccinated with both the H1N1 and, now, seasonal flu vaccines. Residents who want to get the best protection from the flu are encouraged to come out this week to get the vaccine while a full-complement of clinics is available."

Ottawa – After serving nearly 3,000 people, most flu assessment centres (FACs) will deactivate their operations at the end of day Friday due to declining demand. One FAC at the Tungasuvvingat Inuit Community Centre will continue to operate.

November 18, 2009 -Ottawa Public Health (OPH) has opened its H1N1 vaccination clinics to the general public, said Dr. Isra Levy, Ottawa's Medical Officer of Health.

"After more than three weeks of concentrating on priority populations, we now have the supply and the capacity to begin offering vaccine to the general public," said Levy. "The H1N1 vaccine is the best way to protect yourself against the flu this year and I encourage all residents to get vaccinated."

Ottawa –Ottawa Public Health (OPH) will resume operation of its citywide vaccination clinics on Wednesday, November 18, 2009.

"We have been working closely with the province to identify more supply of the H1N1 vaccine for this week and allow OPH to continue what has been a very successful vaccination program in Ottawa," said Dr. Isra Levy, Ottawa’s Medical Officer of Health. "The province has informed OPH that the delivery of the first portion of the 100,000 doses of the vaccine that we have requested is imminent."

Temporary Vaccine Clinic Suspension as of Thursday, November 12th PDF Print E-mail

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) has taken the decision to temporarily halt operations of its H1N1 vaccination clinics due to inadequate vaccine supply.

This temporary halt of the operation is effective at the end of day Thursday.

This service disruption will be as brief as possible, and planning is already underway to ensure a smooth transition back to normal operations when adequate vaccine supply is delivered by the province.

Ottawa - The Ottawa Hospital has joined with Ottawa Public Heath to provide a special one-day clinic for pregnant women only.

The Ottawa Hospital will be operating this clinic on Saturday, November 7 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its Riverside Campus site at 1967 Riverside Drive. The clinic is for pregnant women only and will not be open to the general public.
