When the city council meeting was adjourned Wednesday night it was like kids running out of the classroom on the final day of the school year.

It was the last time some councillors might see each other until the next meeting, which is scheduled for Aug. 25.

I am pleased to report that the City is moving forward with the construction of North Bluff Park, which will begin in August. The City is interested in input from residents regarding the play areas for this park. It was my pleasure to host the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of the Rideauview Community Centre. The expansion will add 1650 square feet of new community space including a multipurpose room, meeting spaces, and a storage room to the current building. Opened on June 17th, 2000, the community centre is a popular spot for youth and seniors programs, rentals, community meetings, and special events. The community centre is an important hub and the expansion will permit a greater range of youth and seniors programming. The expansion is expected to be completed later this year. I would also like to thank John Bruce, President of the Riverside South Community Association, for attending the groundbreaking.
